USC wide receiver Michael Jackson transfers to Georgia
The Georgia Bulldogs landed Southern Cal wide receiver Michael Jackson III on Thursday after he entered the NCAA transfer portal.
The Georgia Bulldogs landed an impact transfer from Southern Cal on Thursday. Georgia hauled in USC wide receiver Michael Jackson III, who recently entered the NCAA’s transfer portal.
Prominent Georgia reporter Radi Nabulsi reported Jackson’s decision to transfer to the Bulldogs. Nabulsi reported the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
“USC wide receiver Michael Jackson III has committed to Georgia out of the transfer portal,” Nabulsi said.
Jackson spent three years at Southern Cal. While he was on the Tojrans, he recorded 46 receptions for 498 yards with five receiving touchdowns. He scored a career-best four touchdowns as a sophomore in 2022. Even through three years, there seems to be a lot of untapped potential here. So, Jackson obviously hopes to spur that potential in a positive way elsewhere.
Georgia obviously feels they need a receiver, and it’s not the first time they’ve used the portal for one. Head coach Kirby Smart clearly has shown an interest in grabbing wid receivers from the portal.
Another strong season for Georgia ended with an Orange Bowl rout of Florida State. The Bulldogs fell short of their goal to win three consecutive College Football Playoff championships. But this is still one of the top programs in the entire country, make no mistake. They might have gotten better on Thursday with the addition of Jackson.
