Rams Receiver Files Hotel Robbery Allegations

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has recently filed a lawsuit against a hotel in the L.A. area, alleging that the establishment failed to provide adequate protection during an armed robbery that occurred last fall. According to reports from TMZ Sports, Robinson asserts that the incident occurred at the Lexen Hotel in North Hollywood around midnight on October 20, 2023. The lawsuit claims that as Robinson entered the hotel through a side entrance, two masked individuals brandishing firearms confronted him, threatening his life. During the course of the robbery, Robinson alleges that he suffered a loss of nearly $150,000 in valuables, including two diamond chains and a high-end watch.

In his legal action, the veteran receiver contends that there were no security personnel present in the hotel lobby, and the staff members who were on-site failed to summon assistance until after the assailants had fled. Consequently, Robinson is seeking $149,500 in damages, along with punitive measures, from the hotel. He further emphasizes in the lawsuit that the traumatic incident had a profound “emotional toll” on him.

Demarcus Robinson, aged 29, recently concluded his inaugural season with the Los Angeles Rams after joining the team in June. Demonstrating his value as a depth addition to the roster, he contributed significantly with 26 receptions for 371 yards and four touchdowns. Notably, Robinson played a role in the Rams’ Wild Card Round loss to the Detroit Lions, recording three catches for 44 yards, albeit falling behind Offensive Rookie of the Year contender Puka Nacua in performance.

Before his stint with the Rams, Robinson spent the initial six years of his professional career with the Kansas City Chiefs, followed by the 2022 season with the Baltimore Ravens. The Florida native is set to enter free agency once again during the upcoming offseason.

The lawsuit raises serious concerns about the security measures at the Lexen Hotel, suggesting that the absence of security guards in the lobby and the delayed response from the staff exacerbated the severity of the robbery. Robinson’s legal action is not only focused on the financial losses incurred but also emphasizes the emotional distress resulting from the incident.

This legal development adds a layer of complexity to Robinson’s career trajectory, as he navigates free agency following his impactful season with the Rams. The outcome of the lawsuit could potentially have implications not only for the hotel in question but also for the broader conversation about the responsibility of establishments in ensuring the safety and well-being of their guests.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the details surrounding the armed robbery and the subsequent response from the hotel will likely come under scrutiny. It remains to be seen how this lawsuit will impact Robinson’s standing in the NFL, the hotel’s reputation, and the broader discourse surrounding player safety and security within the league.
