Kayshon Boutte, a former LSU standout, is accused of a gambling scheme.

Louisiana State Police announced on Thursday that Kayshon Boutte, a former LSU football player, has been issued an arrest warrant as part of an investigation into illegal online gambling. Boutte surrendered himself to authorities and faces charges of computer fraud and prohibited gaming for individuals under 21. He posted a $6,000 bond and was subsequently released. The police have stated that the investigation remains ongoing.

According to authorities, Boutte allegedly used a false identity to circumvent the legal age requirement for placing bets in Louisiana when he was 20 years old, claiming to be 21 to place wagers legally. It is alleged that Boutte placed a total of 8,900 illegal bets while underage, including wagers on 17 college football games and at least six bets on LSU football games, even during his tenure as a member of the football team in 2022. However, a local report from WAFB clarified that Boutte did not wager against his own team, indicating that he was not accused of manipulating game outcomes.

LSU issued a statement in July 2023 acknowledging the allegations against Boutte concerning improper conduct related to sports gambling during his enrollment at the university. The statement emphasized LSU’s full cooperation with the investigating authorities and reassured that there is no evidence implicating other student-athletes in similar prohibited activities. The university expressed gratitude for measures in place to detect and deter misconduct related to sports gambling.
