The Florida State Seminoles capped off an undefeated 13-0 season, a significant portion of their success credited to their dominant defensive performance under the guidance of defensive coordinator Adam Fuller. On Thursday, the Seminoles announced a new three-year contract extension for Fuller, which includes a salary increase, as reported by Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Fuller was the highest-paid assistant coach on the Seminoles’ staff this season, earning $1.2 million, according to USA Today. Under his leadership, the defensive unit emerged as one of the nation’s elite.

Florida State’s defense ranked sixth in the nation in scoring defense, a key factor in their undefeated season and victory in the 2023 ACC Championship.

In the championship game, the Seminoles’ defense rose to the occasion, stifling the Louisville offense. The Cardinals were limited to just 188 total yards and a mere 2.7 yards per play. FSU’s front seven was particularly formidable, tallying a season-high seven sacks and forcing an interception from Louisville’s quarterback Jack Plummer. The defense accumulated 14 tackles for loss and 10 pass breakups in one of their most dominant showings of the 2023 season.

Securing Fuller’s continued leadership will be crucial for Florida State, especially as they prepare to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the upcoming Orange Bowl on Saturday, December 30th, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM EST.

Reports indicated interest from Texas A&M in Fuller in recent days, according to Brandon Marcello.

Fuller joined Florida State in December 2019, alongside head coach Mike Norvell, after a successful stint with the Memphis Tigers. During his time at Memphis in 2019, the defense ranked 20th in pass efficiency and 25th in tackles for loss, with 18 turnovers forced, two of which were returned for touchdowns.

Prior to Memphis, Fuller spent 2013-2018 with the Marshall Thundering Herd, serving in various coaching roles, including linebackers coach, special teams coordinator, and safeties coach.

Before his tenure at Marshall, Fuller was the defensive coordinator at Chattanooga from 2009-2012, briefly served as head coach at Assumption College in 2008, and worked as linebackers coach at Richmond from 2006-2007.
