Former Nebraska wide receiver commits to transfer to Michigan State.

Michigan hires Sherrone Moore to replace Jim Harbaugh, and that comes with challenges for 2024 | Sporting News

Brown, a former Chicago-based Simeon High School three-star prospect, committed to Michigan State’s 2019 recruiting class. After delaying his signing with the Spartans, he attended St. Thomas More Prep in Connecticut for a year before deciding to sign with Nebraska’s 2020 class and reconsidering his interest in Michigan State.

Brown, standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 190 pounds, recorded 22 receptions for 262 yards, carried the ball twice for 17 yards, and returned 16 kickoffs for 284 yards during his time at Nebraska spanning 30 games with 11 starts across three seasons. Departing from the program in February, Brown entered the transfer portal in April, as reported by the Lincoln Journal Star. He still holds two seasons of eligibility.

Michigan State secured Brown’s commitment following the departure of their top two receivers from the previous season. Jayden Reed was drafted by the Packers in the second round of the NFL draft, and Keon Coleman, who led the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, transferred to Florida State. Fifth-year senior Tre Mosley returns as the primary receiver, supported by Montorie Foster Jr., who is now healthy after playing through injuries last season. Christian Fitzpatrick’s previous season was shortened due to injury, while second-year players Tyrell Henry, Jaron Glover, and Antonio Gates Jr. are expected to take on expanded roles. In addition to Brown, Michigan State has secured commitments from Cincinnati safety Armorion Smith and Colorado defensive tackle Jalen Sami this spring. TCU cornerback Kee’yon Stewart initially committed to the Spartans but later changed his commitment to Arkansas less than two weeks later.
