According to sources from Football Insider, Celtic Football Club has no plans to further bolster their squad during the current transfer window following the acquisition of Nicolas Kuhn. Brendan Rodgers, along with the club’s board, is reportedly content with the team’s performance following the addition of the German player.
The club is eagerly awaiting the return of several players from the Asian Cup, including Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda, who are expected to rejoin the squad in Glasgow by mid-February at the latest.
Football Insider previously reported on January 19th that Celtic was in talks to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden, a striker from Brondby, during this window. However, it seems that this potential transfer is no longer being pursued, signaling that Celtic’s business for January is likely concluded.
Nicolas Kuhn, who recently inked a five-year deal with Rapid Vienna in Austria for a reported fee of £3 million, will stand as the club’s sole addition for the winter transfer period.
Despite the cancellation of Nat Phillips’ loan and Yosuke Ideguchi’s transfer to Vancouver, along with confirmed loan moves for Adam Montgomery, Johnny Kenny, and Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Celtic could still witness further departures before the end of the month.
Football Insider reported on January 22nd that Celtic is open to entertaining offers for goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist before the transfer window shuts, despite interest from various clubs across Europe.
Furthermore, La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid made an offer for Celtic’s standout player Matt O’Riley. However, Rodgers affirmed that the club rejected the bid and has no intentions of offloading the player during this transfer window.
Celtic, who currently sits atop the Scottish league standings, progressed to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup following their victory over Buckie Thistle. Their next league fixture is scheduled for Saturday afternoon (January 27th) at Parkhead against Ross County.
