Warriors anticipate signing Klay Thompson again’
The long-running mystery surrounding shooting guard Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors may soon come to an end.The Klay Thompson
The Warriors are anticipated to re-sign Thompson when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
There have been rumors that the Warriors intend to try to trade him before the deadline of February 8. Even though Thompson isn’t as dangerous as he once was, he can still start games most of the time. And occasionally, he will give a performance that is reminiscent of the past.
Klay Thompson and Golden State had talks at the start of the season, but no agreement was reached, so Scotto stated that both parties decided it would be better to wait until the end of the campaign. “He has previously gone through the free agency process and stayed. Thompson appears to want to return, and the Warriors want him back.
As is frequently the case in these circumstances, money will be the deciding factor. It’s possible that the Warriors will only offer Thompson what they feel his current value to the team is. Thompson, 33, might request payment for his accumulated time.
He is averaging 17.6 points right now, which is the lowest since 2012–13, his second NBA season. It is also his lowest 3-point shooting percentage since that year, at 40%.
Furthermore, Thompson isn’t the same wing defender he once was, which makes sense given that he had surgery on both his Achilles and ACL in the previous few years. He lost the 2020–2021 and 2019–2020 seasons as a result.
Golden State (19–24) has already played more than half of its home games, yet they are in 12th place in the Western Conference.
