Florida State is consistently on the lookout for new talent, regardless of where it comes from. In recent years, the Seminoles have recruited players from various backgrounds, including high school prospects, standout junior college athletes, and experienced transfers. Their recent focus has been on bolstering their roster through the transfer portal, and they’ve made significant additions in the past few weeks. However, the coaching staff is still seeking a few more pieces to finalize their lineup for the upcoming 2024 season.

One potential addition to the Seminoles is Adebi, who has two years of eligibility left after playing four seasons for the Big Red. Adebi’s first season was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and he redshirted in 2021. Despite these setbacks, he emerged as a key contributor to Cornell’s special teams, leading the FCS in blocked kicks with four, including a remarkable two blocks in a single game, during the 2022 season. In the following season, he added three more blocks and made seven receptions for 76 yards on offense, including two blocked extra points in a game against Harvard.

Adebi’s position at Florida State is uncertain, as he primarily played as a tight end at Cornell. However, his impressive size, athleticism, and versatility suggest that he could excel in various roles on both offense and defense.

Florida State has been active in the transfer portal, securing commitments from 15 players and assembling one of the top 2024 recruiting classes in the nation. Adebi would be the second Ivy League addition to the Seminoles’ program, following the acquisition of Harvard offensive lineman Jacob Rizy.

Adebi holds a Cornell record with seven blocked extra points in ten games, showcasing his potential to make an impact on special teams, an area where Florida State has traditionally excelled.

The Seminoles’ recruitment strategy emphasizes talent regardless of the player’s background or level of competition, as evidenced by their acquisitions from various divisions and leagues. Their approach underscores their commitment to finding and attracting top talent to their program.V
