“At the Moment, I’m Not Interested,” Hall of Famer Joe Thomas Considers Coaching Position in the Future, But Not Presently
The Browns are in need of a new offensive line coach, and attention naturally turns to Joe Thomas, a revered figure in Browns history who is now exploring coaching opportunities.
So, is Thomas considering the position?
In a recent conversation with Mary Kay Cabot at cleveland.com, Thomas expressed his interest in coaching full-time in the future but indicated that it’s not his focus at the moment.
“I’m not [interested] at this point,” Thomas told Cabot. “I won’t be interested in NFL or college jobs until my kids are in college. Maybe not even then, but certainly not until then.”
Currently 39 years old, Thomas is currently involved with the Munich Ravens in the European League of Football, while also managing family life with his wife, Annie, and their four young children, who are currently living in Germany. Annie has a connection to Europe, having roots in England dating back to her childhood.
With Thomas concentrating on his commitments in Europe, the Browns will need to broaden their search for a replacement for the esteemed Bill Callahan, who has joined the Tennessee Titans staff alongside his son, Brian.
Cleveland has already made changes to their coaching staff this offseason, replacing offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, running backs coach Stump Mitchell, and tight ends coach T.C. McCartney with Ken Dorsey, Duce Staley, and Tommy Rees, respectively.
