The New Orleans Saints appear to have their next offensive coordinator lined up, and he might be bringing a fresh Super Bowl ring with him.

New Orleans is reportedly in talks to hire San Francisco 49ers passing game specialist Klint Kubiak as their next OC, as per Adam Schefter of ESPN. However, any official announcement is on hold until after Super Bowl 58.

The Kubiak family has a history of championship success, with Klint’s father Gary Kubiak leading the Denver Broncos to victory in 2015-16. This potential move could significantly boost Klint’s resume and serve as a fitting end to his tenure with the 49ers.

His work with 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has caught the attention of the Saints. Purdy, the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, ranked in the top five for passing yards and touchdown passes and achieved the best Quarterback Rating of the season. While Purdy benefits from San Francisco’s talented roster, Kubiak’s role in his development should not be overlooked.

Klint Kubiak could establish himself by helping the Saints rejuvenate their offense. He previously served as an offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings, delivering solid but not remarkable results. Despite a challenging stint with the Denver Broncos as passing game coordinator and QB coach, Kubiak’s potential rise in New Orleans is somewhat unexpected. However, he could silence skeptics by revitalizing the Saints’ offense.

The Saints have performed decently in points and passing yards per game, but there are areas that need improvement. If Kubiak joins the team after the Super Bowl, he will need to implement a system that allows veteran QB Derek Carr to efficiently move the ball and dominate the field. Restoring Carr’s identity could lead to significant improvements in the NFC South.

For now, Kubiak’s focus remains on securing a Super Bowl win. The 49ers and Chiefs face off at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 11.
