LSU football secures commitment from 4-star offensive lineman, from Georgia.

LSU football, under the guidance of head coach Brian Kelly, is undergoing a dual process of immediate competitiveness and long-term program building. The previous season didn’t meet expectations, with LSU falling short of a push for the college football playoff despite having standout quarterback Jayden Daniels, who even won the Heisman Trophy.

However, there’s hope for improvement on the horizon in Baton Rouge. Recently, four-star interior offensive lineman Devin Harper from Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana (class of 2025), declared his commitment to LSU football. This announcement, reported by college football insider Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), saw Harper, standing at 6’5″ and weighing 300 pounds, choose LSU over offers from Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers.

The offensive line was an area of concern for LSU in the previous season. One factor contributing to Jayden Daniels’ remarkable performances, which earned him Heisman consideration, was his ability to navigate pressure from unblocked defenders.

Now, as LSU aims to strengthen its offensive line, attention turns to the defensive side of the ball. The defense saw a regression last season compared to its relatively strong performance in 2022, Kelly’s first year in Baton Rouge. Kelly and his coaching staff are tasked with addressing these defensive issues as they continue their efforts to elevate LSU’s football program.
