Michigan’s football program has secured a promising successor to J.J. McCarthy in the form of five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis. Davis, ranked fourth among quarterbacks by 247 Sports’ composite rankings, announced his commitment to Michigan on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” His decision comes after receiving offers from various top programs, including Tennessee, Ohio State, Penn State, North Carolina, and Alabama.

Davis, a dual-threat quarterback from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, expressed his emotional commitment to Michigan, highlighting the strong relationship he has with head coach Jim Harbaugh. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, Davis is considered one of the top quarterback recruits for Michigan since Ryan Mallett in 2007.

At just 17 years old, Davis has already demonstrated impressive skills on the field, leading Providence Day to a state championship and earning accolades such as Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year and North Carolina’s Mr. Football. His commitment to Michigan is seen as a significant victory for the program, especially after Ohio State made a late push for him.

Davis’s decision to commit early reflects his desire to contribute to building a strong recruiting class around him. With 10 commits, including one five-star and six four-stars, Michigan is positioned as a top contender in the class of 2024, currently ranked third by 247 Sports.
