The Buccaneers’ newly appointed offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, has looked to his previous tenure with the Rams to recruit Kevin Carberry as the team’s offensive line coach.

Carberry, who most recently served as the assistant offensive line coach for the Saints, brings valuable experience from his role as the offensive line coach for the Rams during the 2021-22 season. His NFL career spans seven seasons and includes coaching positions with the Cowboys and Washington Football Team.

The Buccaneers have faced challenges in their rushing offense, ranking last in the league for the past two seasons. The departure of offensive line coach Joe Gilbert and run game coordinator Harold Goodwin to the Panthers’ coaching staff has prompted Coen to prioritize improvements in the team’s running game.

Coen emphasized the importance of achieving a balanced offensive strategy, aiming for explosiveness in both the running and passing game. Drawing from his time with Rams coach Sean McVay, Coen highlighted the significance of understanding defensive schemes to optimize offensive plays.

In his approach, Coen aims to empower players such as the quarterback and center to make adjustments during plays, seeking to capitalize on favorable matchups and improve the team’s offensive efficiency.

As Carberry steps into his new role, he inherits a mostly intact offensive line, with four out of five linemen having started every game, and left tackle Tristan Wirfs earning Pro Bowl recognition for his performance.
