Since Jim Harbaugh’s departure for the NFL, the Michigan Wolverines have managed to retain most of their players, with Sherrone Moore’s hiring contributing to this stability. While a handful of peripheral players opted to depart, the team has primarily been affected by the NFL Draft rather than the transfer portal. However, their resilience has been challenged as defensive back Keon Sabb recently announced his entry into the transfer portal.

Michigan Wolverines Lose Keon Sabb To The Transfer Portal

Keon Sabb, a safety for Michigan, has decided to enter the transfer portal, as reported by @On3sports.

The former highly-rated recruit played in all 14 games of the season, showcasing commendable performance as a reserve player with 28 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and six passes defended. Sabb’s choice likely stems from his desire for more playing time, having never secured a full-time starting position at Michigan. Such player movement is common in college football, and Sabb is expected to garner significant interest in the transfer portal market.

Time is running out for other players to make decisions regarding their future with the team. With a 30-day transfer portal window triggered by a coaching change, most players have opted to remain with the program thus far. Sabb’s departure marks the first significant loss of a player who saw considerable playing time. If Michigan can maintain its current roster, the transition to the new coaching regime should be smoother.
