Aston Villa is actively pursuing Athletic Bilbao’s young talent, Nico Williams, as they prepare for a significant overhaul in the upcoming transfer window. The 21-year-old Spaniard, who has been making waves in football with his exceptional speed, skill, and contribution of 6 goals and 14 assists in 30 games across all competitions, has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham.

Despite Williams recently signing a contract extension with Athletic Bilbao until 2027, which includes a release clause of approximately £47 million (€55 million), Aston Villa believes this fee is within their reach. Manager Unai Emery aims to reinforce his squad for the 2024/25 season, with Williams being a primary target.

Athletic Bilbao’s manager, Ernesto Valverde, has praised Williams for his versatility and effectiveness in different tactical setups, crediting his remarkable speed, dribbling ability, and proficiency on both wings. These qualities have fueled the interest from Premier League clubs.

In addition to Williams, Aston Villa is pursuing other notable players to strengthen their team. They prioritize securing the permanent signing of Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet, who has impressed during his loan spell at Villa Park. The club is also interested in Rapid Bucharest striker Albion Rrahmani and Juventus prospect Matias Soule, both of whom have exhibited promising performances in their respective leagues.

Villa’s pursuit of Soule has been encouraged by his reported rejection of lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs in favor of a move to the Premier League. As they strive for Champions League qualification, Aston Villa’s management is actively working to finalize these potential signings, which could significantly enhance their squad under Emery’s leadership.

With a blend of young talent and experienced professionals, Aston Villa aims to make a statement in both domestic and European competitions, promising an exciting summer transfer window for the club and its fans.
