Following their inaugural rookie minicamp practice, the Seattle Seahawks are already generating buzz amongst their new draft class, who are heaping praise on the team’s fresh head coach, Mike Macdonald.

On Friday afternoon, the Seahawks executed their first rookie minicamp practice seamlessly. This practice session marked not only the rookies’ first experience donning an NFL jersey but also their initial encounter with their newly appointed head coach, Mike Macdonald.

Returning to the field is always a moment brimming with excitement for both fans and players alike. The rookie contingent, in particular, emerged from the practice deeply impressed with their recently acquired head coach.

Byron Murphy II, the first-round pick, expressed his admiration for Coach Macdonald, stating, “I love Coach Macdonald. I find him to be highly demanding. Playing under a coach who pushes me to excel is something I truly appreciate.”

But Murphy wasn’t the only one impressed. Tyrice Knight, the fourth-round pick, shared his sentiments, highlighting Macdonald’s directness and expectations. Knight said, “He’s straightforward, gets to the point. He definitely expects the best from me, and I respect him for that. I believe we’ll establish a good rapport.”

Macdonald, during his post-practice press conference, injected a dose of enthusiasm, labeling the practice session as enjoyable. He remarked, “Great to see everybody. Thanks for coming out. It was fun. It was fun. First practice under our belt, but we’ll see a big jump from first practice to the second practice. Guys are enthusiastic. They’re into it. A lot of things will get cleaned up. It’s a big jump for these guys coming from all the combine training to now being here in the building and doing actual football. Tempo was good. We stayed off the ground. Guys are healthy. It’s a good day. It’s a great day. So we’ll kick it off with some meetings later and walk through and get back after it tomorrow. It was a lot of fun.”

The Seahawks’ rookie minicamp continues with the anticipation of the second practice scheduled for Saturday.
