JUST IN: Embiid is fortunate to have received just a three-game suspension for pushing a reporter, as the Sixers’ Process seems to be heading toward disaster once more.

Joel Embiid’s recent three-game suspension for shoving a reporter during a post-game incident highlights a growing tension within the Philadelphia 76ers’ organization—one that echoes the franchise’s recurring struggles under “The Process.” While the suspension was relatively light, it’s hard to ignore how the on-court product and off-court drama are beginning to intertwine in a way that could derail the team’s aspirations.

For a team that once seemed poised to dominate the NBA with Embiid, the Sixers have been caught in a cycle of underachievement. The “Process,” which began with tanking and stockpiling assets, was supposed to produce a championship contender. Instead, it has produced a string of playoff disappointments, internal strife, and now, an incident that draws unwanted attention. Embiid, who has been the face of the franchise, is the key to the team’s success, but moments like these—especially after a heated offseason involving James Harden’s trade drama—raise questions about leadership, discipline, and chemistry within the squad.

Embiid’s actions reflect more than just a bad moment; they are symptomatic of a larger problem. The 76ers have become synonymous with dysfunction. Despite Embiid’s brilliance on the court, the franchise continues to fail in creating a championship environment around him. The issues surrounding Harden, coupled with the lack of consistent roster construction, have left the team in a perpetual state of uncertainty.

If Philadelphia cannot address the internal issues, both from a player and organizational standpoint, the clock may be ticking on the so-called “Process.” With Embiid in the prime of his career, the pressure to contend has never been greater. The question now is whether the Sixers can navigate this storm and finally fulfill the promise of their rebuild—or if they’ll continue to spiral toward disaster.
