A proposed exchange  send a guard with a salary of $22.5 million to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers were hit with distressing news on February 1 when it was disclosed that their star center, Joel Embiid, had sustained a torn meniscus in his left knee. Despite this setback, there may be hope for the team as Zach Buckley from Bleacher Report suggested a potential trade scenario involving Malcolm Brogdon from the Portland Trailblazers.

Buckley’s proposed trade, outlined on February 2, sees the Philadelphia 76ers acquiring Malcolm Brogdon while sending Marcus Morris Sr., KJ Martin, Jaden Springer, and a 2026 first-round pick (via OKC, HOU, or LAC) to the Portland Trailblazers. Buckley justified this trade by highlighting the Sixers’ ample trade assets and Brogdon’s suitability for their roster, noting his versatility on both ends of the floor and playoff experience.

Despite speculation about a possible trade, Brogdon himself expressed contentment with his current situation in Portland during an interview with The Athletic’s Jason Quick on January 30. He emphasized his commitment to helping the team win and feeling valued in Portland, contrasting his experience with the Boston Celtics.

In addition to Brogdon, there are other options reportedly being considered by the 76ers. Insider Marc Stein mentioned the potential interest in Kyle Lowry if he becomes available from the Charlotte Hornets. Meanwhile, David Rooney of ClutchPoints and others have discussed the possibility of acquiring Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls, highlighting the Sixers’ suitability as a landing spot for LaVine. However, some, like Adam Wells of Bleacher Report, speculate that the team may opt to wait until the summer to make significant moves due to the lack of star-level players currently available on the market.
