Former Pittsburgh Steelers NFL player Clark Haggans has tragically passed away at the age of 46, leaving the American football community in shock.

Haggans, a Super Bowl XL champion, spent 13 seasons in the NFL, with eight of those years playing for the Steelers from 2000 to 2007. He played a pivotal role in the Steelers’ 2005 Super Bowl victory, recording a career-high nine sacks during that season.

While the cause of Haggans’ death remains unknown, the coroner’s office stated that no foul play is suspected.

In addition to his tenure with the Steelers, Haggans also played for the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. He reached another Super Bowl with the 49ers and was part of the team that won the NFC title in 2012.

One notable aspect of Haggans’ career was his drafting by the Steelers in 2000, a year after they had drafted his college teammate and friend, Joey Porter.
