The Washington Wizards’ forward, Isaiah Livers, will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to inflammation in the joint capsule of his right hip, as announced by the team’s public relations department via Twitter.
Livers, who has faced a series of injuries throughout his early career, was part of a trade deal in mid-January that saw him, along with Marvin Bagley III and two second-round draft picks, being traded for Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala.
Despite the trade, Livers has yet to make his debut for the Washington team, primarily due to a combination of not being included in the rotation and dealing with the hip injury. Previously, he appeared in 23 games, starting in six, for the Detroit Pistons this season, where he averaged 5.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 20.4 minutes per game. His absence from the court was prolonged earlier in the season due to an ankle sprain sustained during a pre-training camp workout.
Last season, Livers participated in 52 games, marking his second year in the league after being drafted in the second round by the Pistons in 2021. He missed 20 games due to a sprained right shoulder during that season.
Livers’ injury woes trace back to his college career at Michigan, where he suffered a foot injury that affected his rookie year in the NBA, limiting him to just 19 games. Overall, he has accumulated 94 career games in his professional basketball journey.
Looking ahead, Livers will enter the upcoming offseason as a restricted free agent if the Wizards decide to extend him a qualifying offer of $2,295,120.
