Enzo’s injury forces Pochettino to reconsider, but the ideal substitute is still not available.

Enzo Fernandez will miss the game against Wolves tomorrow, that much is certain. But how long will he be released?

After being taken off early against Newcastle, it was reported that he had a “illness,” however Mauricio Pochettino revealed in his press conference yesterday that it was a hernia:

“Enzo will miss the game against Wolverhampton.” We’ll see if he can become involved again as soon as possible. You already know it was a hernia, and he was also not feeling well. We’re going to see the doctor for treatment. It will not be an issue for me; I believe he will rejoin the group as soon as feasible.”

Hernias now come in a variety of degrees of severity. The most minor type may only be a week away. The most serious cases could result in months or perhaps surgery. Given that he was risked against the Magpies from the outset, one would assume the former rather than the latter. However, we do not know if it has been worsened more.

With Enzo out, this would be an ideal game for Christopher Nkunku to make his debut for Chelsea. Pochettino, however, has denied the idea yet again. We expect Mykhailo Mudryk to start, like he did against Sheffield United, with Cole Palmer moving into a new role in midfield.
