Peter Schmeichel slams Erik ten Hag and Manchester United.

Under Erik ten Hag, the former Manchester United goalkeeper believed the Reds lacked any sort of game plan versus West Ham.

Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham was the worst the Reds had played in a long time, according to Peter Schmeichel, who thought the team lacked a game plan.

Alejandro Garnacho squandered a one-on-one opportunity during the first half, which was United’s best scoring opportunity of the game, as Erik ten Hag’s side failed to create any clear-cut chances. The Hammers struck twice in quick succession in the second half to earn the win, and United have now gone four games without scoring for the first time in 31 years.

Ten Hag has been chastised for failing to instill his own philosophy at Old Trafford despite a terrible season. United have lost eight of their last 18 Premier League games and are currently ranked seventh.

“West Ham had a strategy for playing this game and stuck to it and waited for the opportunities,” Schmeichel said in a harsh assessment. They took them when they came.

“You can argue about Man United’s strategy until the end of the day, but I still don’t know.” I don’t recall seeing them play this poorly in a long time.”

Former Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe agreed with Schmeichel, saying, “It wasn’t a great performance, and that is probably the worrying thing for Man United.”

United’s forwards have only scored four goals in the Premier League, with Rasmus Hojlund yet to score in 14 appearances. Ten Hag lamented United’s inability to score after their defeat at the London Stadium.
