“Let’s be honest,” Todd Cantwell now expresses his genuine opinions about Celtic as a team.

One of the biggest rivalries in football is that between Celtic and Rangers. Nobody can dispute that. The one match that truly makes the Scottish Premiership famous is the Glasgow Derby.

It is enormous. However, Rangers winger Todd Cantwell understands the significance of the derby, whereas many others do not. Right now.

And just because he’s now featured in five of them, that’s all. Even though he has only triumphed once, it appears that this is sufficient for Cantwell to disclose something candid about Celtic, which will be welcome news to Hoops fans.

“I knew that was a big rivalry but I didn’t know how big it was,” Cantwell said in reference to The Beautiful Game. In essence, bragging rights are what it is.

“Let’s not lie, I play for the Rangers, and I adore the team. I told you that Celtic is a good team, so there’s no need for me to lie about that.

They’re a formidable team and the other team up here that inspires a lot of fear, so

“So in the end, they have the right to brag about it, but from my perspective—and my perspective as a player here—there is unquestionably a window of opportunity to change that.

And it is at the players’ discretion. And since it has clearly been them over the past few years, it is up to us to turn that around.

Let’s ignore the obvious confusion in Cantwell’s dates, given that Celtic has dominated for eleven years rather than six. Nevertheless, at least he now acknowledges that the Hoops are the team to beat.

The Rangers attacker has appeared to be at odds for far too long, trying to justify Rangers’ inability to defeat Celtic instead of simply owning up to the fact that the Hoops were superior on the occasions when they prevailed.

Perhaps the problems with Chris Sutton would not have surfaced on social media if he had taken that action.

Cantwell is speaking the truth about Celtic at least now. At least he understands now that, even though Celtic are leading, he and his group must pursue them.

Since Celtic has dominated Scottish football for the past eleven years, every Hoops supporter will be hoping that this trend continues for the next eleven.
