This season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have an intriguing roster. At quarterback, seasoned veteran Russell Wilson is competing with young prospect Justin Fields for the starting position. Teams across the NFL are beginning to make some minor adjustments as the third and final weekend of preseason games approaches in preparation for reducing their rosters to 53 men.

The Steelers signed linebacker Kyahva Tezino and defensive lineman Marcus Haynes on Tuesday, according to their official Twitter account. They also placed offensive guard Nate Herbig on the injured list and released defensive back Anthony Averett. Due to a torn rotator cuff, Herbig has been placed on the injured reserve list. As a result, he will miss the entire season. The 2019 undrafted native of Hawaii has appeared in 61 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Jets.

In 2018, Averett was selected in the fourth round of the draft after graduating from the University of Alabama. In 2022, he reached his career high, starting 14 games for the Baltimore Ravens and registering 11 passes defended and 3 interceptions. Tezino was a standout during his five years at San Diego State University. In 2020, he was not selected for the NFL, so he played in the United States Football League in 2022 and 2023. Before getting a brief contract with the San Francisco 49ers during training camp last summer, he had 179 tackles and 2.5 sacks there. The Denver Broncos signed Haynes as an undrafted free agent last year, but he has yet to appear in an NFL game during the regular season.
